This minicourse will allow us to learn the basics of modeling of infectious diseases using mathematical/compartmental models. We will be introduced to continuous and discrete mathematical models and shown how the inclusion of appropriate elements into the models could lead us to understand the complexity of disease dynamics, and possibly help us to gain more insight about the underlined diseases. We will use the mathematical models either to predict what might happen to the population under threat or understand the hidden characteristic of the disease which might not be too obvious. We will be studying the models mainly by conducting computer simulations however some analytical solutions with some just in time reviews will also be provided.
